You forget an agreed call and begin a long explanation about the week. The other person still needs to know whether the conversation can happen.
Say what you did, acknowledge the relevant effect and offer a practical repair. You might propose another time or send the information they were waiting for. Explain context briefly if it changes the arrangement, without using it to erase the missed commitment.
Let the person respond
They may accept the repair, suggest another option or remain disappointed. Avoid requiring an immediate statement that everything is fine. A repair still needs to be completed after the apology.
Check the step that allowed the mistake so you can make a proportionate change. A calendar reminder may help with a missed call; taking fewer commitments may help when the week was already impossible. Do not promise that a mistake can never happen again. Offer the action you can actually take and follow through on the new arrangement.
