A visitor asks to stop by on Sunday. You would like to see them and also have an evening task that needs attention. Saying "Any time is fine" gives them no reason to know that your afternoon has an end.
Offer a time range you can comfortably host. "Come around two; I need to finish by five" gives the visit a shape before anyone travels. If they need a longer stay, discuss it while there is still time to plan.
Prepare the ordinary ending
Near the end, mention the next thing you need to do. You can enjoy the visit without inventing an emergency to bring it to a close. For overnight guests, discuss departure and sleeping arrangements beforehand, including shared household needs.
If the plan changes, say so as early as you can. A clear invitation leaves room for the visitor to accept, decline or suggest another day. It also helps you offer future visits with an accurate idea of the time you have available.
