A sale announcement can turn a vague wish into an apparent deadline. You scroll through options and begin imagining uses for things you had not planned to buy.
Before opening the sale, write what you currently need and the amount you can reasonably spend. Include any specification that matters, such as fit, compatibility or delivery date. Use the list to decide whether an offer solves the actual problem.
Check the complete purchase
Compare the final price with another available option, including delivery and anything required to use the item. Check return conditions before paying. A discounted product with the wrong dimensions still leaves you needing something else.
If nothing on the list is available at a suitable price, you can leave without choosing a replacement purchase. Save the specifications for later. When an unplanned item interests you, put it on a separate consideration list and return after the sale's urgency has passed, if it is still relevant. This gives you a chance to decide how it fits your household and budget before committing.
