Installing a work app on your phone can seem convenient. Soon messages arrive during meals and travel, alongside everything else the phone already does. The installation has changed access to your attention without a conversation about when that access is needed.
Ask what your role requires. Clarify whether the personal device is optional, what response times apply and which channel handles urgent situations. Check relevant workplace policies before changing a setup used for work.
Match the settings to the agreement
Use notification schedules or separate profiles where they support the agreed hours. Check that essential alerts still reach you through the proper channel. Do not rely on silently muting a channel that other people reasonably expect you to monitor.
If the setup remains intrusive, raise the specific issue with the person responsible. Describe when messages arrive and what expectation is unclear. A practical discussion about devices, coverage and timing gives you more to work with than a general promise to use your phone less.
