You spend an hour helping someone work through a problem. You have made progress, but the session ends with several loose questions. Later you receive messages about each one because neither of you is sure what was agreed.

Use the last few minutes to summarise what you resolved. Name the next action and who will take it. If you are offering another session, agree on its purpose and timing rather than leaving a general promise to keep helping.

Include the unanswered part

Say which questions remain open and where the person might find the answer. If you do not know, leave that uncertainty visible. A made-up answer can create more work than an honest limit.

Send the summary if written details would help, especially where dates or documents are involved. Then finish at the time you agreed. If more work emerges later, treat it as a new request you can consider alongside your other commitments. The earlier session can still have been useful without resolving every part of the problem.
