You design a routine while on holiday or during a quiet period. There is space for long sessions and careful preparation. Once the usual responsibilities return, the same plan starts to feel impossible to maintain.
Look at a recent ordinary week. Include commuting, care, housework and the gaps that were shorter than expected. Find the amount of time you could reasonably reserve without moving a necessary responsibility.
Make the first version fit that space
Choose a useful action that fits the available window. You might prepare one page or practise one part of a skill. Keep the larger session as an option for weeks when more time genuinely appears.
Try the smaller version and observe whether you return to it. If the setup uses most of the window, simplify the materials or choose a different location. Review the routine using the week you actually lived, rather than measuring it against the unusually open week in which you first imagined the plan.
