You have a detailed plan with several pages of notes. When someone asks what you are doing next, you find yourself describing every possible route. The information is extensive, but the current decision is hard to identify.

Write a few sentences explaining the result you want, the next action and the main thing you still need to learn. Use words you would say to a friend unfamiliar with the project. Keep technical detail only where it changes the explanation.

Use the unclear sentence as a question

If you cannot describe the next action, inspect that part of the plan. Perhaps the action is too large or depends on information you have not gathered. Write the missing question and decide how to answer it.

Return to the detailed notes when doing the work. The short account does not replace them; it helps you enter them with a current purpose. Update it when the direction changes so that your next session begins with the decision you are now making, rather than every option you have ever considered.
